¡Hola a todos! My name is Anusha Tandon, I’m 17, and I’m a senior at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Acton, Massachusetts.
I first joined Girl Up back in sixth grade when I wanted to use my voice to help people around the world. I was enticed by Girl Up’s unique format that allows girls to be at the forefront of change, because I had never seen a campaign that was basically run by girls. I helped found a club in my middle and high school, and have taken leadership roles ever since. I feel like I have grown so much over the years, and I’ve loved seeing the amazing women in my club grow up along with me.
Aside from spending so much time with Girl Up, I participate in many other activities outside of school. Music is a huge part of my life, and I am part of the chamber choir at my school along with two a cappella groups. I also take Hindustani classical music lessons, which helps me keep in touch with my culture. Learning is really important to me, and I am a part of my school’s National Honor Society. I love reading and creative writing, and most of all taking walks with my dog Smokey.
I am so thrilled for the opportunity to be a part of the 2018-2019 Teen Advisor class and am looking forward to an impactful year!
