¡Hola a todos! I’m Eugenie Park, and I am a 16 year old from Bellevue, Washington. I currently serve as the Founder and President of Girl Up’s Puget Sound Chapter, and recently launched Girl Up’s Seattle Coalition! I am so (SO) incredibly excited to be serving as a Girl Up Teen Advisor, and absolutely cannot wait for the exciting things to come.
If there was one trait that sums me up fair and square, it would be impatience. Nothing makes me more frustrated then a prolonged red light, extra long line at lunch, or the not-fast-enough pace toward ultimate justice on our globe (emphasis on that last one). Though this impatience makes me a nuisance to some, it also empowers and motivates me like nothing else. Because of this impatience, I am willing to work hours into the night to make progress in my community as quickly and thoroughly as possible, and have figured out how to mobilize and empower the young minds and hands around me to complete projects bigger and better than anyone could have ever imagined. A community where I love to do this work is the nonprofit organization I am co-president of: Seattle Young People’s Project. Having a group of dedicated young people who are just as fired up and impatient as I am to make real change in our community is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I am forever grateful and indebted to them for fulfilling me in such a rich way.
Again, I am so grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait for what’s to come. Not only is the future female, but the present is…and I can not wait to prove that to everyone, one project at a time.
