Hi everyone! My name is Fasica Mersha and I senior at Parkview High School in Atlanta, Georgia.
This will be my second year working with Girl Up. I initially discovered Girl Up through social media and as soon as I learned about it I had to be a part of it. I started a Girl Up Club at my high school my junior year, this will be second year as President and my first year as a Teen Advisor.
I am unbelievably excited to be a Teen Advisor and I can’t wait to be able to connect with all the other members. Being involved with Girl Up has helped me uncover my passion for humanitarian work and social justice. In the future I hope to use the skills I learn from being a Teen Advisor to be able to create change in the world.
Aside from Girl Up I am the President of my school’s UNICEF Club and Co-President of the Model United Nations. I am also the Vice President of the Black Student Union. I wish to help end the gender gap seen in STEM fields, I do this by working with The Elementary STEM Initiative. This is a program that I helped create with a mission of encouraging more minorities to pursue STEM through workshops, community events, and competitions. In my free time the number one thing I love to do is binge watch Netflix with watching YouTube videos coming in as a close second.
