Grace Rabinowitz

Hi! I’m Grace. I am a rising senior living in Cresskill, New Jersey. I’m so excited to be a Teen Advisor for the 2016-17 year, and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Girl Up. I first found out about Girl Up as I was scrolling through the explore page of my Instagram (#instalife). Girl Up has given me the platform to use my passion for girls’ empowerment as fuel to plan and host some pretty awesome events, like a spin class fundraiser and movie screening at my school.

I love all things science, and last fall I founded an after-school science program, GeeWhiz, dedicated to exposing elementary school students to the scientific method through fun experiments. One of my major goals in my work with Girl Up is definitely to increase awareness of the huge gender gap in science across the world. We need more girls in STEM! I am also a Peer Leader and I attended a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership seminar last summer.

Outside of school, I love hiking and camping, and last summer I hiked the Tour du Mont Blanc in the French, Swiss, and Italian alps! I also biked more than 600 miles from Eugene, Oregon to San Francisco, California my sophomore year of high school. I run indoor and outdoor track, and I am generally down to try any outdoorsy activity. My favorite foods include s’mores, especially when I’m camping.

In my spare time, you can find me at my internship at an animal research lab, making kale smoothies, and belting out Taylor Swift lyrics!

I can’t wait to see what the upcoming year brings as a Teen Advisor and I’m so honored to have this position!
