Helena Branco

¡Hola! My name is Helena, I’m 16 years old, I’m Brazilian and I live in São Paulo.

I’ve always believed in a diverse and respectful society where people aren’t victims of intolerance, discrimination and oppression. By the time I read about Girl Up I immediately wanted to be part of this incredible team.

All my life women were the ones who helped me thrive, so I value this strong connection and resilience we have. Now, after my experiences in a place where it is hard to be a girl, I’m eager to use the privilege of being a Teen Advisor to help other girls succeed. I want to show girls they can conquer the world and that their differences is what makes them special and ready to face the challenges together.

I’m an open minded girl who loves everything related to our unique differences.
I’m also passionate about education, its power have always fascinated me.

In a typical day you will see me daydreaming wearing my Beatles t-shirt (it’s my favorite) and a ripped jeans. If I’m not playing the guitar, I’m probably reading a book, a magazine, some articles, watching TV shows or movies that make me think about something interesting or just make me laugh. I like to study some things by myself like psychology and some languages. I listen to music with my soul and appreciate any kind of art. I also love to learn new things, to meet new people, and to chat about anything (even though I’m a little shy at first).

To be a Teen Advisor is an honor, I’ll be part of a enriching environment and share a bond with other like-minded girls, each one with their own dreams, ideals, unique perspectives and distinct experiences, but just one goal.
There are no words that can describe how grateful I’m for this opportunity and for all the amazing and inspiring women who surrounds me and who helped me to become who I am. I’m really excited and can’t wait to start my journey with Girl Up.
