Hey y’all! I’m Libby Foster, and I attend North Oldham High School in Goshen, KY. I’m currently the Prospect Girl Up Club Co-President and I will be a senior in the 2018-19 school year. I come from a family of strong women, but I first became inspired to empower and educate girls everywhere when I attended the Women’s March last year. That sort of fellowship between women with a common idealistic goal inspired me and led me to Girl Up. Since then, I assisted in the founding of my community’s Girl Up Club, which I’m proud to say has recruited 47 members and has worked to raise money for Girl Up’s School Cycle initiative. I truly hope to assist in the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goal 5: global gender equality. Aside from my dedication to Girl Up, I am an avid outdoorswoman. In the summer of 2017, I spent four weeks in the Alaskan wilderness with the National Outdoor Leadership School, which I believe was instrumental in my development as an advocate and individual.
Throughout my life, hiking has centered me in times of stress and uncertainty. As a result, I am very passionate about sustainability in addition to gender equality. Another integral chapter of my journey as a servant leader has come through my involvement in the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association. I have participated in the organization’s programming throughout high school in the form of the Kentucky Youth Assembly and Kentucky United Nations Assembly. By being involved in the judicial aspect of these programs, I have made lifelong friends and learned so much about the intricacies of governmental processes. After three years of learning through this experience, I was appointed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court program. I am so excited and beyond honored to serve as a Girl Up Teen Advisor! Let’s get to work!
