¡Hola a todos! My name is Mariam Mustafa and I am a rising senior at Irvington High School in the Bay Area, California!
Traveling around the world has allowed me to perceive the magnitude of various challenges women face, which has prompted me to become involved in organizations like Girl Up and has encouraged me to make a tangible change in and beyond my community.
Besides my involvement in Girl Up, I love to work at my local homeless shelter and involve myself in their community through doing various projects at the shelter. My passion for people has pushed me to be involved in my school’s student government since the 3rd grade. I am a student board representative for the Fremont Board of Education, where I get to represent the wants and needs of over 34,000 FUSD students to board members and community members. Additionally, I’ve been involved in DECA, a business organization, since my sophomore year. I currently serve as a California DECA State Officer, representing over 2,000 CA DECA members.
Outside of school, I love to go on photoshoots with my friends (check out my photography account on Instagram @marclickspics !), try out new food places, travel to new places, and eat vegan eggrolls and dumpligs from Loving Hut!
I am honored and extremely excited to be chosen as a Teen Advisor and look forward to what’s in store for the coming year!
