Meg Schwartz

Hi! My name is Meg Schwartz. I am 17 years old, and a junior at Notre Dame de Sion High School in Kansas City.

I became involved with Girl Up my freshman year, when I came across one of Girl Up’s pictures on my Instagram “explore” page. After looking into the Girl Up campaign, I knew it would be an excellent way for me to express my passion for gender equality and the rights of girls worldwide. Since then, I have attended the Leadership Summit in 2015 and started the first club in the Kansas City area at my school. I am currently working with several area schools to expand the Girl Up community in my area. I have had so much fun so far, and I am so excited to start a new chapter of my work with Girl Up by serving as a Teen Advisor.

At my school I work as the president of the Girl Up Club, play on the tennis team, work on our school newspaper- Le Journal, and I am the vice president and 2017-2018 president-elect for National Honor Society.

Outside of school, I love to volunteer, especially at a local hospital working the birth center’s front desk and at a local animal shelter walking dogs. I am a member of Distinguished Student Leaders, an organization that fundraises for summer lunches for local impoverished children. I also serve as a junior coach for Girls On the Run, a sister organization to Girl Up that promotes body positivity, self-esteem, and leadership in elementary and middle school aged girls. I love to read, drive around listening to music, and spend time with my friends and family. I have an incredible older sister, Ellie, who is my role model and best friend. I also have three adorable dogs.

I am so honored to be able to work with Girl Up on a global scale as a Teen Advisor, and I can’t wait to see the amazing things we will be able to accomplish this upcoming year.
