Morgan Wood

Hello! My name is Morgan Wood and I live in Endwell, New York, with my Mom and Dad, my sister, Leah, and my brother, Isaac and my black lab, Buddy. I am a senior at Maine-Endwell High School, where I am captain of the Field Hockey team, President of Student Council, MECSD Girl Up and the Model UN club.

A lot of people ask me why or how I got involved with Girl Up, and I think Margaret Mead, writer and public speaker, said something that embodies the “spirit” of Girl Up and within itself, explains why I am involved with the campaign: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” When I got involved, I immediately fell in love with Girl Up because I believe that as an organization we have a unique opportunity to change the world. I believe that if we all work hard together, we will change society as a whole because there is endless potential when it comes to girl power!

I love quotes, so I think the best way for me to express myself is through two of my favorite ones:

“Always pay attention. Everyone you meet has something important to teach you.”- Sevenly

“Every person I interact with is part of the person I am becoming.” – Patricia Moreno

Both of these quotes remind me that everyone I meet changes my life, and vice versa. And I know, that even though I will most likely never meet the girls whose lives I am working to help change, we are transforming each other in ways that will impact our lives for the better.

I can’t wait to meet all of you and work together to make this year the best year yet for the Girl Up campaign.
