Hey there! I am Rym Badran from Beirut, Lebanon. I am 16 years old and I am currently a grade 10 student at Lycée Abdel Kader libano-français.
I speak fluently 3 languages: Arabic, French and English. I am the Co-President of my school feminist club and the Chapter Coordinator In Lebanon for the 2030 Project a youth association focusing on youth perspectives in order to achieve the SDGs.
I am extremely passionate about human’s rights especially women’s rights and women political leadership. And so I am thinking of studying political science: middle eastern studies and international human’s right law.
Coming from a Middle Eastern country is one of the main reasons why I wanted to join Girl Up because experiencing injustice made me more concerned about women’s rights not just in Lebanon nor the Arab World but in the whole world. My lifelong dream is to work for the United Nations and so by combining my passion for gender equality, politics and human’s rights in order to sustain peace especially in our region while including women in the process of peace making!
While I am not fighting the patriarchy, you can find me reading Simone de Beauvoir’s books, eating the yummiest Lebanese food, discussing politics, participating in MEU MUN parlement du LAK and watching lots of YouTube videos!
I am beyond grateful and thankful for this opportunity. And I can’t wait to serve in this year class of Teen Advisors along my sisters to be! Yala! Let’s make this world a better place for each girl in the world!
